So. Last night I very carefully and clearly made up a sign that said,
"NO on 36
All Oregonians deserve the right
to legal, social, and economic equality."

Gosh, aren't I so horribly rabid with my support of the Gay Agenda???

So, early this morning, Grandma came into my room, disturbing me and Jas's restful sleep, and ripped the sign off the window. Here's what she yelled at me: "How do you think this looks? Like our house is divided!" Well, yeah. On this issue, it is, but that doesn't mean that we're at war with each other. We can all express our own opinions in a healthy way, right? What I said, half-asleep, was, "All I did was make my own sign. I have a right to my own opinion!" She left the room, shouting over her shoulder, "You don't have any rights in MY house!"

I don't want this to be like a war of wills, but I do want to express my own opinion. I can't stand for my grandparents speaking for the entire household on this issue when I feel this strongly about equal rights. I feel ashamed every time I step out the front door and have to walk past that sign on my way to work. We live in a neighborhood of mixed races, and I can't help but think of what this is saying to our neighbors about our family's feelings on civil rights.

I have no idea what to do now, short of chanting "No on 36!" like a maniac every time I step out the door.
