when come back, bring pie!

I've been having dreams for a while now where it's twilight and getting darker and I'm stranded in strange upper-class suburban neighborhoods and/or in streets with mostly empty land on either side and I'm trying to find the bus stops and figure out which buses to take and stuff. I keep taking the wrong buses or if I'm a bit more lucky taking the right bus in the wrong direction, and there's always people waiting out there for me in the night that I have to avoid. The surburban places are just endless curls and cul-de-sacs and I keep walking around shadowy mushroom-shaped trees that are hard to distinguish from the dark. The empty city streets are streamlined, with evenly-spaced orange street lights and an above-ground subway and I feel really out of place standing there below a streetlight trying to figure out which way to go, like I haven't been riding buses since 9th grade or probably earlier. Once, I'm part of this family who takes a trip to a home improvement-type warehouse to do some shopping even though we've been living in a bigass motorhome on the highway for months. So I go off trying to find something at least kind of nice because I feel like I'm the only one who has a taste for decor, and I find this ugly stained-glass window or door thing that's ok, so I go up the the cash registers all smiling, but I find that they've left me, the whole big white trash family left me while I had been off on my own taking way too long browsing around, so I"m stranded at this big warehouse and it's closed up.

Will see The Two Towers within the next week, I've promised myself. As am lacking in cashmoney for ticket, perhaps they will accept old bus tickets, pennies, and pocket lint as substitute?

Oh, I wonder wonder wonder wonder what's in a wonder ball?

I wonder: In Portland, we thank the bus drivers just for getting us to our destinations. Do people thank bus drivers in most other cities?

In other news, I think my Counselling Adventure is finally starting to get somewhere. Today she mentioned the possibility that part of what's causing this quarter-life crisis might be control issues in my family. She said that the adult family members in my life all sound like rather controlling people, and thinking seriously about it, I agree. Throughout my life I have had close friends tell me that my family is too strict, forcefull, or controlling, and I always scoffed or got defensive. Now, though, I'm really starting to think about it.

"Santa ain't coming (No more ho ho!)..."--Bizarre Christmas song I heard today

They just said on the news that this year the U.S. military is helping out Santa, escorting his sleigh. Well isn't that just a warm and fuzzy moment? This year the jolly old red man with dimples so merry will have gun-weilding body guards to protect him from the dangers of little Jane and Jimmy. Aww, how precious!

"What this?"
"Er...pie."
