I've been trying to get an answer out of the family in Sweden all this time, and today I got an e-mail from the father:

"Hi Aimee!

I'm sorry that we haven't been able to write to you. We have almost not been able to talk to each others during this time because of R.'s travelling but anyway and because of that decided to wait for a while. A reason is also that we feel it wouldn't be fair to you letting you come here now and not have time to support and phase you in.

We liked you very much and if we're going to have an aupair it's going to be you.

Best regards
In hope that we've not made you too dissapointed at the moment.
/m."

What does this mean? I can't tell. The first paragraph seems to contradict what he says in the second. And it confuses me more because they know it'd take around three months anyways for my work visa to be processed, isn't that plenty of time to arrange for my arrival? Or is he saying that because he hasn't been able to sit down and talk to R. (the mother, who often travels on business, and has been travelling an extra lot lately), they are going to wait and decide when they *can* sit down and discuss it?

Although work today was hell, in general things have really been improving. When I wrote about how horrible we teachers have to be, I was drawing upon my experience last spring with the old site director. Things are not as bad now. Every now and then I'm even able to have a say in how things are handled.
