I don't place much of any value on this list because it's so obviouly biased. Only one Queen album in the top *500*, and it's number 230??? And it's rated lower than New York Dolls, who ranked 213?????! New York Dolls may have been original, and really hugely influencial to the whole ambiguous stylish glam rock scene, and in effect to punk rock, but ranking 213 out of the 500 best albums ever?? No way. their music is basic and catchy. The Dolls weren't very talented and their music wasn't very beautiful. This album wasn't groundbreaking. In my opinion, the Dolls were about the scene they created, being original stylistically, and strutting around manfully while wearing dresses. Their album was just a kind of by-product, the main thing the Dolls did was perform live.
Queen, on the other hand? Freddie Mercury's amazing vocal abilities cannot be denied. Brian May is rather good on the guitar, too. Queen as a group melded perfectly. When they put out an album, they nitpicked every tiny detail to make the final product the best it could be. I mean, dude, Bohemian Rhapsody alone! All that vocal layering upon layering, the switches in key, rhythm, and musical genre from one minute to the next.
Rolling Stone listed the Beach Boys's Pet Sounds as the number two best album of all time. Kinda ridiculous.
Etc.
