I just decided that I am for once thoroughly enjoying wasting many hours of the wee morn "Surfing the 'Net". Tomorrow-that's Saturday- at 10 am (I know, and I appreciate your sympathy) will be my first day of work at the library. Happily, it is a moderately antisocial job, where all I have to do is stand for four hours "guarding the entrance" while reading my book or magazine of choice. Score!
Yep. cash is at hand. It will be mine. Oh yes. It will be mine.
My poor roommate. A long time ago this evening she told me that she is presently in a bad state of depression. She said that she can't remember laughing out of genuine happiness since she was 14. Poor roommate. It's troubling knowing too that there isn't anything I can do that would make it go away- she just has hold on until she eventually comes out of it. As far as I know, that's how it seems to work. She's so cool, too. Very philosophical and knowledgeable about political theories and such. You know what she's reading for fun at the moment? "Classics of Moral and Political Theory"- that's 1259 pg.! Go, roommate.
Ah, I hear the maids out in the hallway moving around. Those brave ladies- I don't see how they can get up at 3 in the morning to peel slimy hair clogs out of the drains and pick up the rotting garbage that stupid kids leave lying everywhere. It sickens me to think that the U of R cuts costs by hiring immigrant workers because they are desperate enough to work for peanuts.
I can't wait to get back tomorrow and sleep. I am really enjoying being a recluse for a while as I settle in again. OH, badish/goodish news- I have to buy a guitar. It's for my Friday class, and although I would absolutely love to get one, but here in good ol' richy rich Redlands, a decent acoustic guitar from the one pawn shop in town costs at the least $129 plus 7.5% tax. That's another lovely thing about Portland- NO sales tax! Anyways, I did expect to eventually buy a guitar, but I was only planning on shelling out the cash for my true love, the *electric* guitar. Aimee is fast emptying her pot of money. It is getting scary.
5:00 AM YES!
I have always thought that the phrase, "?Donde esta el bano?" is mother funny. How can one not be amused when one repeats this phrase several times in a totally American SoCAL twang?? I tell you, it is impossible.
I have vowed to begin watching at least two tv shows:
1.)That 70's Show- It is obvious- because Ashton Kutcher is shockingly ;) ! I don't understand why this prettyboy has chosen to be in such terrible films, though.
2.)Smallville- When I was little, Superman RULED!
What else can I prattle on agreeably about?
OH yes! I received a very sweet valentine in the mail from Grandma- with stickers on the envelope that said things like, "Peace on earth", "Love", and "We Stand United", rather than things like, "God Bless America", "We will Never Forget: 9-11", "Go Bush", "Yay War", etc, which is the sort that I would have expected. I mean, my grandma told me just before I returned to U of R that she believes that "the liberals will one day cause the American government to fall". I hope she is starting to change her mind a little. And then inside, this is what she wrote that's so cute:
"I washed the five clothes you had downstairs in your room and your two jackets + two blankets. You left your room so neat + clean! Guess what Gramps + I did today. It was a beatiful sunny day so we skipped church and drove up to Hood River and had a great meal and watched the fishing boats took pictures on the way home and I made fudge awhile ago. When I feel more ambitious Ill make + send you some okay! Thanks for leaving your room so neat + clean! And Solomon brought back all your videos last nite."
She really does have a charming writing style, I think.
I'm going to bed now.
