Yes, I can't deny that I love them. I mean, it goes beyond the cool factor, their music's just... gahh! It blisses me out. Do you ever get that kind of reaction from a particular piece of music?
Yeah, all the time! Especially with certain pieces of classical music, it takes my breath away like nothing else. Coldplay's Clocks also has that effect on me - I can't just casually listen to it or have it on in the background, whenever it comes on I'm get completely consumed by it.
The whole A Rush of Blood to the Head album is awesome!
There's this composer named Eric Whitacre. He writes mostly a capella choral pieces. Sometimes the harmonies hover at this tone that is so sublime it makes your throat ache. I got to sing one of the songs, Lux Aurumque, when I was a music major at the university, with our enormous choir, and just before the end of the school year, I sat in the audience and listened to the choir sing Cloudburst. Another good Whitacre song is Water Night.
